TII initiated the Corporate Membership System: First members already welcomed |
|
First members have been welcomed by the System, which is carried out in order to strengthen the communication between the Institute and the insurance companies, while creating a sense of corporate belonging. The Corporate Membership System brings unique and special benefits in both insurance trainings, which are required in parallel with corporate development, and in consultancy services provided by TII. Insurance companies, those of which will attend the 27th Term Basic Insurance Training Program in particular, have a precious opportunity to register their employees to the programme for free as well as benefiting from the Short Term Training Programmes, Tailor Made Training Programmes, IGIE Training Programmes, TII Publications, TII Bowling League and TII Choir.

Training and HR Managers Convene at the “TII Training and HR Platforms” |
|
TII Training and HR Platform, which is organized in order to share TII’s efforts to improve quality of work force in the sector, to determine needs, training and employment problems of the sector in cooperation with insurance companies and to provide solutions to the problems in concern, was held in September. Platforms set as regular upon constant demands from training and HR managers, who agree on the fact that insurance companies advance their cooperation in sectoral development, has become the meeting point for training and HR managers.

5th Training and HR Platform was held
“5th Training and HR Platform for Non-Life Insurance Companies”, organized by TII, was held on 2nd of September. The platform, participated by the Training and HR managers, started by the presentation of TII Corporate Membership System. It was stated that the system would be enabling feasibility in planning for annual trainings and would be offering striking surplus in training budgets. Participants expressed positive feedback concerning the Corporate Membership System which has been built on high standards.
TII’s Project on Sector Analysis was also on the agenda and the participants were informed that the Project was started in order to determine needs and expectations of insurance companies in insurance trainings. There were also briefings on 27th Term Basic Insurance Training Programme, new Short – Term Training Programmes, Distance Learning Training Programme on Internal Systems in Insurance, which would be presented for the first time on 28th of September, and Advanced Insurance Training Programme which would be held between 29th of September and 17th of November.
The platform, accompanied by breakfast, was concluded following wishes and suggestions from participants concerning TII’s services and potential projects devoted to sectoral development.

Insurance training and employment issues discussed at the Training and HR Platform for Private Pension and Life Insurance Companies
Training and HR Platform for Private Pension and Life Insurance Companies, organized by TII in order to determine training needs of private pension and life insurance companies, to discuss their problems and to offer proper solutions, was held on 8th of September with the participation of Training and HR managers.
The platform started with the presentation of the TII Corporate Membership System and continued providing a comprehensive introduction of the TII Private Pension Academy.
The Academy’s mission to fill the gap in bringing employees who are entitled for private pension intermediation license and are equipped with advanced sales techniques in the sector, which is already necessary for its development, is welcomed by participants.
After a brief concerning TII’s new term training programmes, participants involved in exchanging ideas about training and employment problems and possible solutions of the private pension sector. TII also declared that the platforms would be sustained in 2010.

Registration to TII Turkish Music Choir will no longer be subject to fee within the frame of TII’s social responsibility |
|
TII Turkish Music Choir which was founded with the initiative of TII in 2008 has been opened for free participation of employees from insurance sector within the frame of social responsibility and upon constant requests from insurance employees.
The Choir rehearses four times a month, every Thursday, at Turkish Insurance Institute. For those who would like to be a part of the TII Choir are expected to submit a letter of intention and a short resume as well as a completed application form to be sent to: koro@tsev.org.tr

Advanced Insurance Training Programme has started |
TII has introduced “Advanced Insurance Training Programme” to the sector. The programme becoming prominent as an innovation in 2009 started in 29th of September. Developing on Fire and Engineering Insurance, the programme appeals to Fire and Engineering Insurance Branch graduates of the Basic Insurance Training Programme and professionals who have at least 3 years experience in related units as expert or junior expert.
During the programme, being on progress until 19th of November, advanced level trainings will be taught in following subjects: CAR, Fire Insurance and Riders, Machinery Breakdown, Loss of Profit, Electronic Equipment Insurance and Risk Management in Fire and Engineering Insurance. A project study comprising a case study from construction to operation process and being qualified as a dissertation will be developed during the programme in which all previous studies will be summarized.

First Distance Learning Programme by TII has been accomplished |
TII, as a close follower of world trends in insurance training, has accomplished the initial distance learning programme among the others. While presenting synchronic training application to the sector as a different form than commonly used training systems, TII started “Internal Systems in Insurance Sector” distance learning programme on 28th of September.
Participants were able to follow the lecture live on their computers within the scope of a predetermined schedule. In case a lecture was missed by some of participants, training video and related materials could be reached at the archive to catch up the schedule. Moreover, participants were encouraged to ask questions during synchronic lectures and receive instant replies from the lecturer Ms. Sule Avcioglu, Head of Department from the General Directorate of Insurance within the Undersecretariat of Treasury, as an interactive way of participation as a class lecture.
As it is known, Insurance and Private Pension Companies were obliged to establish Internal Auditing Department until 31st of December, 2008 and Internal Control and Risk Management System until 31st of March, by the Regulation concerning Internal Systems of Insurance and Private Pension Companies published in 21st of June, 2008.
In February, 2009 TII already organized a face to face training programme in accordance with the regulation in order to provide assistance on the ways to be pursued and jobs to be done. This programme is also designed as a distance learning programme for those who could not participate to the face to face programme because of work – schedule or geographic reasons. TII has developed the programme in cooperation with the Element Training Technologies Company.

A New Legislation Harmonization Training Programme: “Functioning of the Insurance Arbitration System and General Overview to Arbitration System” |
|
A new training subject has been added to the TII’s Legislation Harmonization Programmes aiming at facilitating insurance sector’s harmonization to new regulations in the scope of EU’s harmonization process and guiding the sector in relevant subjects. The training programme, focusing on functioning and fundamentals of the arbitration system which is established in accordance with the Insurance Law no. 5684 and in the presence of the Association of the Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Turkey, was held on 30th of September. The programme welcomed participants from law and technical departments of the insurance companies where the following topics were presented:
- Procedures and Guidelines for System of Arbitration
- Insurance Contract based Conflict Resolution through System of Arbitration
- Procedures concerning Complaints in the System of Arbitration

Short Term Training Programmes are continuing |

Short Training Programmes Schedule in September composed of 9 short – term training programmes being oriented towards different insurance branches and were addressed to basic and advanced levels. Short – term training programmes will be on progress with 7 new subjects out of 12 trainings and be accompanied by trainings targeting life and private pension insurances during October.

TII Library encourages effective utilization of national and foreign information sources collected and compiled by TII. These resources are reachable for sector and public employees, undergraduate and graduate students and researchers.
The Library has 4900 research and publications and is constantly updated. These publications and resources are categorized as;

In our library, books are classified within the Dewey Decimal Classification System and placed as open shelf. Periodical publications are placed as alphabetically on open shelf. Guidance service is also offered for visitors to help them reach resources easily and solve their problems.

TII, which supports exchange of sector based know-how through TII publications, is waiting for your articles and researches |
Developing insurance – oriented information and providing this information as reachable and shareable are taken on as a mission by TII which publishes first and unique refereed insurance journal in Turkey: Journal of Insurance Studies and compiles conferences and seminars organized by TII as books.
Accepting the fact that academic studies must be increasing for the sake of sector development, TII pays royalties for studies and publish them in its journal in order to encourage academic studies in insurance.
All publications are provided to public institutions, university libraries and managers of sector institutions free of charge. On the other hand, all persons who are engaged in the sector can have those publications through on-line shopping.
Editions of “Journal of Insurance Studies” and “Research and Studies on Insurance Series” including refereed and editorial approved articles and studies in actuary, finance, globalization and European Union as well as insurance have been published so far. For those who are interested in submitting their studies and researches for Journal of Insurance Studies which is already accepting articles for its 6th edition and for Research and Studies on Insurance Series of which 16th edition has just been published, can know about dead-lines, rules and other details on www.tsev.org.tr
