Insurance Sector hit by final fever at TII Bowling League |
|
TII 2nd Bowling League, which started in January, offering insurance professionals a casual atmosphere for coming together, ended with the final game in May.
Top three teams and the best players received their awards from Prof. Dr. Suna Özyüksel, Manager of the Turkish Insurance Institute.
At the end of final games, Anadolu Sigorta Team (Line-up: Uğur Güler, Ayhan Uzun, Naci Yılmaz, Serhat Güneş and Turgay Keçeli) ranked the first with 5643 team points. Team players are awarded with free participation to TII Short Term Training Programmes for 18 credits. Along with Mr. Mustafa Su, General Manager of Anadolu Sigorta, Mr. Musa Ülken, Mr. Mehmet Metin Oğuz, Ms. Filiz Taşyumruk, Mr. M. Levent Sönmez and Mr. Erdinç Gökalp, Deputy General Managers, participated the award ceremony.

Second ranking in the team category was held by Ak Sigorta (Line-up: Osman Akkoca, Eylem Verim, Didem Kaçar, Zeynep Çetingöz and Murat Gümüşçayır) with 5111 team points.

Yapı Kredi Sigorta Group Team A (Line-Up: Olgun Yavuz, Didem Gündoğdu, Cem Artut, Levent Yaşarol, Murat Dilaver) ranked the third with 4903 team points.

In the best individual players’ category, Ms. Zeynep Çetingöz from Ak Sigorta took the first place with 1261 points. She was awarded with a Lenova Notebook along with winner cup and medal.
Second in the best individual players’ category was Ms. Didem Gündoğdu from Yapı Kredi Sigorta Group Team A with 1251 points. Her awards were LG Cookie Smart Phone, runner-up cup and medal.
Mr. Naci Yılmaz was the third at the same category with 1197 points. He was awarded with a Sony Digital Camera, consolation cup and medal.
This year, players were also competing in the High Score and High Strike categories for the first time. Mr. Emre Ercins from Axa Sigorta, with 217 points, won High Score prize and was awarded with Toshiba Portable Hard Disc as well as High Score Cup and medal.
Mr. Ayhan Uzun from Anadolu Sigorta won High Strike prize with 8 strikes and was awarded with a cup and medal along with a Philips MP3 Player.
Other than insurance company teams, Turbağ Sigorta Aracılık Hizmetleri (Insurance Agency) and SFS Company joined the competition with their teams.

4th Concert from TII Turkish Music Choir in June |
|
Following three successful performances, TII Turkish Music Choir will give its 4th concert on 17th of June at 20:00, at Milli Re Conference Hall. The repertoire includes valuable classics of Turkish Music and the concert will be enriched by tango and flamenco performances. The choir is composed of insurance professionals and directed by Ms. Ayşenur Özpekel and Mr. Osman Nuri Özpekel.

TII Alumni Club is founded and the Board Members convened for the first meeting |
|
Turkish Insurance Institute has founded the Alumni Club to bring gradutaes of the Basic Insurance Training Programme together in a social network. The Club has recently begun operating after the first Board Meeting held on 27th of April at TII.
Ms. Nur Türeli, graduate of 21st Term, has been elected as the Chairperson of the Alumni Club Board, Mr. Metin Özvarna, graduate of 26th Term, as the Vice Chairperson and Mr. Cem Köşker, graduate of 25th Term, as the Secretary General. Rest of the Board Members are: Ms. Seda Evrensel (24th Term), Ms. Hülya Bulut (25th Term), Mr. Kemal Albek (25th Term), Mr. Bulut Karayaka (26th Term), Mr. Esat Noyan (26th Term) and Mr. İhsan Önal (26th Term).

TII continues to provide education grants for its honorary graduates, in order to encourage the students of the Basic Insurance Training Programme and to contribute to the development of the quality of employment in insurance sector.
Metin Özvarna, honorary graduate of the 26th Basic Training Insurance Programme, joined several seminars organized by Munich Re. Mr Özvarna, whose expenses were covered by TII, stated that he found the opportunity to meet many colleagues from different countries and to gain new insights. Metin Özvarna continued as follows: “I tried to represent TII in Munich, in the best way I could. I am grateful to TII, for providing me with this great opportunity”.

Short Term Training Programmes continue in summer term |
|
Relying on the fact that continuous professional and personal development has significant importance in insurance business, Turkish Insurance Institute remains its Short Term Training Programmes in process during summer term. The Programmes in June include technical expertise oriented training subjects as well as subjects to develop vocational skills. Participants are offered various training subjects to meet different training needs and expectations from Law to Risk Management; from Marketing to Technical English.
The programmes to be conducted in summer term are as follows:

TII welcomed guests from Pakistan IGI Insurance |
|
Paying attention to international relations in order to exchange views and experiences of different countries, on insurance business, Turkish Insurance Institute promotes its relations with Pakistan.
TII welcomed Mr. Jalees Ahmed Siddiqi, CEO of the Pakistan’s one of the biggest insurance company, IGI Insurance and Mr. Shahbaz Haider Agha, General Manager of IGI Insurance. Prof. Dr. Suna Özyüksel, Manager of TII, Sema Bilgin, Head of Training Unit, Barış Taş, Expert, and Batuhan Özgün, Assistant Expert, attended the meeting.
Mr. Siddiqi made an introductory speech, presenting his country and his company. Following Mr. Siddiqi’s speech, Mr. Agha made a presentation giving brief information about services and associates of IGI Insurance, Pakistan insurance sector and position of IGI Insurance in the market. He also presented Pakistan’s political and economic structure as well as business opportunities. Following Mr. Agha, Sema Bilgin, made a presentation about TII’s structure and services, Turkey’s social and economic structure, and Turkish Insurance Sector.
The meeting continued by mutual talks, where Prof. Dr. Suna Özyüksel underlined TII’s enthusiasm in cooperating with Pakistan and Mr. Jalees Ahmed Siddiqi expressed his positive impression on the large scale of services of Turkish Insurance Institute. Prof. Dr. Özyüksel and Mr. Siddiqi discussed on the potential fields of cooperation and ways of strengthening the relations between the two countries with regard to insurance business. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Siddiqi invited TII representatives to Pakistan in order to enhance the level of cooperation.

We are expecting your articles for the 7th issue of Journal of Insurance Studies |
|
Journal of Insurance Studies, published by TII, is the first and only refereed journal in Turkey on insurance in which the technical and/or theoretical issues in the agenda of the sector are analyzed.
In the “Articles Approved by the Science Committee” section of the journal, articles written in accordance with the academic rules and qualified to be published by the Science Committee, are published. In the “Articles not Submitted for the Approval of the Science Committee”, there are research, studies, analyses and interpretations of the academicians, bureaucrats, experts, students of insurance and actuary, which are approved by the editor. Articles relating to the issues and problems of the insurance sector in your country and in your region are welcomed. You may submit your articles in English, French or German.
