79 Students of the 26th Term Basic Insurance Training Programme have successfully graduated |
|
Students of the 26th Term Basic Insurance Training Programme received their graduation certificates during the graduation ceremony held on 5th of October at Milli Re Conference Hall. Executives from insurance and finance sectors came together with the graduates after the ceremony.
Mr. Kemal Olgac, Chairman of the TII Executive Board, made an opening speech. In his speech, Mr. Olgac pointed the fact that there are many insurance executives who had graduated from the programme in the past and expressed his expectation to see new graduates as executives in the sector in future while congratulating them for their success. Following his speech, Prof. Dr. Suna Ozyuksel, TII Manager, made a presentation about the services of TII.
 
Afterwards, plaques and rewards for those who accomplished the Programme with honorable degrees were presented by the top executives of their companies. The ceremony was concluded by awarding graduate ranking first students in each branches with plaques and all graduates with certificates. TII, which takes over a social responsibility in global warming, has also planted a tree for each graduate through donating to the Turkish Foundation of Combating Soil Erosion, for Reforestation and the Protection of Natural Habitats (TEMA).
  
During the ceremony, guests enjoyed a pleasant night with TII Turkish Music Choir’s concert and Gokce Oksay’s amazing dance performance accompanied with flamenco music.

Third successful performance from the TII Turkish Music Choir: “The Favorite Songs of Ataturk and Rumelia Folk Songs” |
|
TII Turkish Music Choir, initiated by TII which offers off – charge participation in scope of the Institute’s corporate social responsibility, showed a successful performance in its third concert.
The Choir, conducted by Aysenur Ozpekel, was highly praised for “The Favorite Songs of Ataturk and Rumelia Folk Songs” concert held on 5th of October at the Milli Re Conference Hall.

TII’s seminars on raising awareness in insurance, organized for the university students, are continuing in order to raise awareness in insurance among public, through helping consumers understand the importance of insurance and introducing insurance products.
5th Seminar on Awareness in Insurance, sponsored by Finans Emeklilik ve Hayat Inc., was held on 23rd of October in Erzurum.
The students showed interest in the following subjects discussed at the seminar:
- “A new system, a new opportunity: Private Pension System” presented by Ms. Özlem Baydar, Director of Corporate Sells from Finans Emeklilik ve Hayat Inc.
- “Insurance and Us” presented by Mr. Cem Yalcin Bayer, Vice President of the Education and Publicity Committee of the Association of the Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Turkey
- “Institutions of the Turkish Insurance Sector and Turkish Insurance Institute”, presented by Ms. Nurhan Sutlas, Head of Public Relations and Marketing Unit from TII

Students of the Marmara University, School of Banking and Insurance, visited the TII in order to have an overall knowledge concerning general structure and the institutions of the sector. Students were welcomed at TII and equipped with extensive knowledge in TII’s services by the Education Unit. Thus, students had a chance to get detailed information about trainings in branches which they were interested in.

Announcement of 2010 Short Term Training Programmes will be made annually |
TII will make annual announcement for Short Term Training Programmes by 2010 in order to contribute to companies’ annual training plannings and enable training programmes to approach participants more easily. By this practice, TII Corporate Members, awarded by free credits for trainings, will have a long term vision in terms of Short Term Training Programmes. Another innovation in this practice is that there will be optional dates set for each training topics. By offering two or three optional dates for each training topics in a month and bringing these training subjects in the most preferred dates, it is aimed at minimizing risk for insurance sector employees of missing trainings because of heavy working schedules. Besides, trainings will be repeated two or three times if all optional dates hit participation.
Annual schedule will also be updated in case that training needs arise in new subjects, which are not planned yet.
Annual schedule is expected to be announced to the sector in November as preparations will be concluded soon.
Moreover, new training topics to be carried out in November 2009 are listed as follows;
- Crucial Points in Reinsurance Treaties and Renewals for 2010
- Reserve Calculations in Classical Life Insurance Tariffs
- Construction & Erection Projects and Projects Exposed to Water
- Subjects Crucial in Determining Company Revenues and Making Out Declaration
- The Concept of Supplementary Health Insurance and Its Relation with General Health Insurance
- Internet Based Applications in Insurance

A new training Programme for IT sprecialists in insurance sector |
TII is organizing a new training programme for IT specialists who write and manage software that insurance companies use in their operations. The programme aims at strengthening communication between IT units and technical units, and facilitating workflow through equipping IT professionals with the fundamental information in insurance business, calculations and risk assessments as the technical expertise requires.
The programme, divided into two parts called Basic Insurance and Policy Process from the point of IT Units, will be held on 9-10-11th of November.

Increasing demand for tailor-made training programmes |
|
Today’s constantly changing conditions and escalating competition act as driving forces in creating different professional and occupational training needs for insurance professionals, which pave the way for increasing demand for TII’s tailor-made training programmes.
Tailor-made training programmes, which continue in a very busy schedule in October, can be organized at any venue, date and time (either working hours or out of working hours) and only open for employees of the demanding company.

TII attended the eficert’s General Assembly |
TII attended, along with European national institutes specializing insurance training, the EIET Conference held on 7-9th of October in Paris, of the European Financial Certification Organization (eficert) of which TII is a member.
At the meetings hosted by the French Insurance Institute, presentations from the host country and member countries took place as well as presentations on the subjects of regulations in insurance brokers in Europe, European agenda on insurance brokers, training certifications in Europe and Y generation. The conference was concluded by a workshop oriented in training practices of the member institutes, problems faced and regarding solutions. TII was represented by Ms. Sema Bilgin, Head of Education Unit and Batuhan Ozgun, Jr. Expert, in the Assembly.
As it is known, eficert aims at bringing common standards in occupational training in European financial services.
