2009 TII Seminar Series begins |
2009 TII Seminar Series begins in March. The second TII Seminar Series, the first of which was organized last year, begins on March 4th, 2009 at 18.00 at Milli Re Conference Hall. Complementing the 26th Term Basic Insurance Training Programme and having 6 different subjects, the seminars are open to the sector. The seminars will be given by experts of each subject. TII Seminar Series which will begin on March 4th will be completed on March 31st.

TII Education and HR Platforms had its 4th meeting with the participation of heads of Education and HR Units |
Education and HR Platform was organized by TII on February 13th along with the participation of heads of Education and HR Units of insurance companies. The Platforms have become the meeting point of heads of Education and HR Units in which sectoral problems are discussed and evaluated and which are organized.
The platforms, which will be organized separately for elementary and private pension insurance companies in 2009, have become the meeting point in which the sectoral problems are discussed and evaluated in a problem-solving manner by the Education and HR leaders.
The platform was completed with the requests and suggestions. The other platforms of 2009 are: Private Pension Insurance Companies Education and HR Platforms on April 14th and November 3rd; Elementary Insurance Companies Education and HR Platforms on April 21st and November 10th.

Insurance Sector Bowling League continues |
|
Turkish Insurance Sector Bowling League organized by TII continues. Following the first two games of January 15th and February 12th, Anadolu Anonim Turkish Insurance is the leader. The league of 24 teams will be completed with the final game in May.

e-Basic Insurance Training Programme from TII |
Turkish Insurance Institute, the first and only international training and research centre of Turkish insurance sector, has cooperated with Element Training Technologies, well-known for its e*training projects, on e-Basic Insurance Training Programme prepared for the insurance sector.
The courses of the training programme, prepared according to the needs of those who work for or who are planning to work for insurance sector, will be given by experts and sector professionals. e-Basic Insurance Training Programme is composed of Basic Insurance Training, Fire-Engineering Insurance Branch and Casualty Insurance Branch.

The courses of the first semester of Basic Insurance Training Programme are completed |
The courses of the first semester of 26th Term Basic Insurance Training Programme are completed. Following the first semester of Basic Insurance Training Programme that had begun on October 13th, the second semester will begin on March 16th. Together with the complementary Seminar Series that has begun in March, Basic Insurance Training Programme will continue in 6 branches as Fire-Engineering Insurance, Casualty Insurance, Marine Insurance, Accountancy, Health Insurance and Life Insurance.

Legislation Harmonization Training Programmes continue |
February term of Legislation Harmonization Training Programmes is completed. The first training of this term was on Internal Systems in Insurance Sector, given on February 11th. This training programme, given by the Department Head at Undersecretariat of Turkish Treasury Directorate General of Insurance Şule Avcıoğlu, covered the recent changes on related legislation regarding internal systems.
Legislation Harmonization Training Programmes of February continued with “Technical Reserves Allocated by Insurance and Reinsurance Companies and Tax Legislation” and “General Clauses of Policies, Special Clauses of Policies, Attached Clauses and Principles to be Taken into Account in Paying Insurance Claims According to the New Insurance Law and the Principles Important for the Supreme Court”.

5th issue of the Journal of Insurance Studies is published |
5th issue of the Journal of Insurance Studies, prepared for the purpose of developing the Turkish insurance sector and supporting its competitiveness to reach to those of the developed countries, is published.

Prof. Dr. Suna Özyüksel explained the mortgage insurance to Azerbaijan insurance sector |
TII Director Prof. Dr. Suna Özyüksel had a presentation on “Mortgage Insurance and Its Application to Turkey: General Conditions for Payment Insurance” at the Conference on “Mortgage and Insurance: International Practices and Experiences in Azerbaijan” in Baku on February 16, organized by Azerbaijan Insurers Association in cooperation with International Finance Corporation.
In her presentation, Prof. Dr. Özyüksel discussed in detail the actors of mortgage finance, striking statistics on mortgage system, and comparative mortgage insurance practices in Turkey and in the West. Prof. Dr. Özyüksel also answered the questions on Mortgage Insurance, which is a new product in Turkey.

TII was introduced to Japanese insurers |
TII has met the second largest company of Japanese insurance sector, Sompo Japan. At the meeting which took place on February 23rd, with the representatives of the company, aiming to make use of the investment opportunities in Turkish insurance sector, Secretary General of the Association of the Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Turkey, Mr Erhan Tunçay, EU and International Relations Expert of the Association, Mrs Berna Özşar Kumcu, TII Head of Education Unit, Ms Sema Bilgin and representative of the Prime Ministry Agency of Investment and Publicity of Turkey were present. Following the presentation of Tunçay and Kumcu on Turkish insurance sector, Bilgin carried out a presentation on the activities and services of TII.
