TII Seminar Series started with various subjects from economy to social responsibility |
|
The 3rd of TII Seminar Series has started on 9th of March. Prof. Dr. Suna Ozyuksel, in the opening speech, stated that Seminar Series have been advancing as a platform to bring insurance professionals together with well-known and respected professionals from other professions. Prof. Dr. Ozyuksel also defined the primary goal of the Series as to introduce new visions and horizons to the TII students through seminars, and underlined the success of the organization in consecutive 3 years.
 
- A critical approach from Mr. Can Baydarol to the EU-Turkey Relations
Dr. M. Can Baydarol, the first speaker of the Seminar Series, evaluated the Turkey’s new position in the framework of shifting paradigms from 1945, Yalta Conference, to the present in his “Bill of the Delayed Transition Period to the EU-Turkey Relations” themed presentation.
- Turkish Tax System from Osman Arioglu
The speaker of the second seminar on 11th of February was previous Head of the Revenue Administration, Mr. Osman Arioglu. Mr. Arioglu mentioned about economics and fiscal regulations in Turkey and gave information about Turkish Tax System.
- Handicap-Free Life and Sustainability
Mr. Ercan Tutal, the founder of Association for Alternative Life, was the speaker of “Handicap-Free Life and Sustainability” themed third seminar. Mr. Tutal shared his experiences in handicap-free life with participants.
Ercan Tutal started his presentation with an advertorial of their project titled “Alternative Camp”, helping handicapped people’s involvement in social life. He continued his presentation with further information on ongoing projects and solutions created for handicapped people.
- Organization of Insurance Agents and Experts within the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges in Turkey (TOBB)
The fourth speaker of the seminar on 22nd of February was Mr. Cihat Alagöz, the Head of the Sectors and Entrepreneurship Department. Mr. Alagoz started his presentation titled “Organization of Insurance Agents and Experts within the framework of Insurance Legislation” with brief information on TOOB’s general structuring and organization.
Mr. Alagoz underlined TOBB’s unique initiative to re-organize insurance agents and experts under a single organizational model. He also stated that this organizational model is the best example in terms of self administration of independent occupational groups under an umbrella union by using their own resources as well as resources provided by the umbrella union to make a difference in the sector.
“Reality and Change” themed seminar given by Mr. Guven Guner, founder of THYMOS and professional speaker, encouraged participants to go beyond ordinary and stereo-typed mentality.
The seminar led participants to re-evaluate what they have learnt, known and experienced, through interactive methodology, unusual examples and basics of quantum mechanics.
- TII Seminar Series continues in March
TII Seminar Series welcome two more respected guests in March. Ms. Meliha Okur, a very well known member of economy press, will present “Turkey’s Economic and Political Initiative” on 5th of March; and Mr. Ertan Firat, General Manager of Aviva Insurance, will present “What kind of a Future from a Chaotic Environment? / Possible Career Opportunities” on 4th of March.

Training and HR Managers convene at the “TII Training and HR Platforms |
|
The 5th TII Platform on Training and HR was held on 7th of February with participation of HR and Training Managers from 21 insurance companies. At the Platform, occupational training problems were discussed from the viewpoint of HR and Training Departments.
During the Platform, HR and Training Managers commonly expressed that TII’s annual announcement of training programmes on contemporary topics made a useful contribution to their annual training schedule.
In April and September, TII will organize two further platforms for Training and HR Managers for Life Companies in one group and Managers for Non-Life Companies in another group.

“Leadership and Modern Management” seminar for HR and Training Managers |
|
TII organizes “Leadership and Modern Management” themed seminar for HR and Training Managers, as a part of Personel Development Training Programmes, in cooperation with THYMOS.
The seminar, which will be conducted by a limited participation, will be held on 25th and 26th of March. Mr. Güven Güner, who has given many seminars to various sectors and participated to the TII Seminar Series as a speaker on 26th of February, will be giving the seminars to the HR and Training Managers.

Prof. Dr. Suna Ozyuksel joined National Employment Workshop |

Prof. Dr. Suna Ozyuksel joined National Employment Workshop organized in order to contribute Employment Advisory Board of Ministry of Labour and Social Security’s efforts, in determination of a national strategy for employment and preparation of an action plan for realization of the strategy.
Representatives from relevant public institutions, private sector and civil society as well as academicians and press members participated to the workshop. Finance Committee for Sectoral Policies, formed to determine strategies as regards to employment policies of financial services sector, was held by Prof. Dr. Suna Ozyuksel along with members of parliament from governing party, academicians, a representative from State Planning Organization, and representatives from some banks.

Applications for Short Term Training Programmes in March, where there are 8 topics, have started. In February, 6 of the trainings offered, were completed in several branches. Out of 8 programmes in March, one topic will be introduced for the first time in 2010. The programmes in March are as follows:

“Train the Trainer” and “Leadership Development Program” in cooperation with THYMOS in March |
|
Soft – skills training programmes of TII, developed in co-operation with THYMOS continue in March.
Among the programmes “Train the Trainer” is a unique chance for in-house trainers to practice in a casual and risk free environment and to observe themselves in teaching, as video shots are frequently used during the programme. The programme, which focuses on adult learning models and the process from developing a training programme to presentation, offers participants a solid perspective for a convincing and dynamic presentation to be required in each level of professional career.
“Leadership Development Programme” is developed on the question of “How regular people make an incredible difference in organizations?” and designed to offer participants chance to compare their leadership skills with common practices of real life leaders. The significant points in the programme is that the importance of feedback and perception, strategies for growth, turning leadership skills into practice and the fact that leadership is a total sum of practices and knowledge.

Two new Tailor Made Training Programmes |
|
Tailor Made Training Programmes, which aim at meeting training needs in vocational and personal development of insurance professionals upon demands from the sector, are extended by two new training subjects. The first topic focuses on a very contemporary problem, which is forgery and fraud in notification of claims and claims reporting. The training provides theoretical topics like forgery and fraud in insurance, types of forgery and fraud, legal aspects, along with practical knowledge built on real life cases and the methods to deal with them by an insurance expert.
The other one is to support insurance professionals, in a competitive and international business environment, by equipping them with business English proficiency. The training is structured by terms and case studies in particular to insurance business and provided in an interactive environment. At the end of the training, participants are expected to have competence in business letter writing, professional language, presentation skills and public speaking.

2010 First Term Legislation Harmonization Training Programmes successfully completed |
|
The first term of the Legislation Harmonization Training Programmes in 2010 were completed in January and February. “Life Insurance Legislation in Accordance with New Regulations” in January and “Credit Life Assurance Legislation in Accordance with New Regulations” themed training programmes were instructed by N. Serif Cakirsoy, Head of Department from Insurance General Directorate of the Undersecretariat of Treasury. Legislation Harmonization Training Programmes, attracting intensive interest, will be provided to the sector in cooperation with relevant public bodies, in forthcoming terms.
