Insurance sector reduced stress through meditation...

TII 2008 Seminar Series attracted high attention of the sector, which had begun on February 5th, and ended following different and interesting subjects in March.

The speaker of the TII Seminar Series on March 6th was family and life coach psychologist Dr. Davut Ýbrahimoðlu. The lively presentation of Ýbrahimoðlu was framed around “what is positive thinking; how can we think positively? How can we please our milieu and live in good health through positive thinking?” Ýbrahimoðlu carried out a model exercise to demonstrate how they may relax with meditation.

Regulations in the Turkish Commercial Code set a good example for Germany...

One of the seminars carried out in March within the framework of TII 2008 Seminar Series was given by Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Ülgen, Chairman of the Turkish Commercial Code Insurance Sub-Commission at Turkish Grand National Assembly and the Chairman of Department of Commercial Law at Istanbul University Faculty of Law.

Ülgen stated that “The changes are made by considering the regulations of the European countries. Regulations relating to the insurance branches are removed from the draft. Instead, a new layout including all the branches is arranged. This change has pioneered the regulations of the related draft in Germany.” Director of TII, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suna Özyüksel Oksay has presented his plaque to Ülgen after his presentation.

Akgün Akova was also at TII Seminar Series...

The insurance sector has come along with the well-known figures of Turkey at the TII 2008 Seminar Series. One of these figures was the poet, author and photographer Akgün Akova.

Akgün Akova gave a seminar on “Creativity”. Claiming that creativity exists not only in art, but also in our daily lives, Akova stated that “Creativity is identical to breaking something into pieces and then unifying it. Picasso says that the act of creation follows the act of demolition. Creativity means not resembling the others. Paying attention to details is one of the most important aspects of creativity.” By claiming that “The details standing as trivial say very important things to us” and through the examples he gave, Akova emphasized the importance of the details in solving business problems and sales.

The participants had joyous time along with the dia show and the music used by Akova during his presentation.

Emotional Intelligence training at TII...

TII was again first to carry out with its training programme on “Emotional Intelligence” organized in March. Short Term Training Programmes, announced quarterly as of 2008, address the spirit of the sector with its soft-skill trainings besides the specialization and technical training programmes. In this context, “Emotional Intelligence Training Programme” organized on March 14th by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selim Yazýcý, lecturer at Istanbul University Faculty of Political Science, included the place of emotional intelligence in business life, how to manage the emotions, how to make use of and improve emotional intelligence as well as self-evaluation. The training was carried out interactively and enriched with practices.

The first two months of TII Short Term Training Programmes is completed with the trainings on March. The new calendar covering the months May-June-July will be announced during the second half of April.

The other specialization trainings within the scope of Short Term Training Programmes, carried out in March are as follows: Health Insurance Sales, Modern Marketing and Sales in Insurance, Credit Insurance, Credit Insurance Contracts, Risk Management in Health and Life Insurance, Emotional Intelligence, Parameters Having Impact on Profitability of Private Pension Insurance, Professional Indemnity Insurance by Legal Conception, Internal Audit and Quality Management in Insurance, Engineering Insurance Advanced Insurance Training.

The training programmes are carried out at TII’s head office in Tesvikiye, Ýstanbul.

Branch trainings of the Basic Insurance Training Programme have begun...

The second semester of the Basic Insurance Training Programme, running since the foundation of TII and having around 3 thousand graduates, has begun on March 10th. The second semester has begun following the completion of the Seminar Series that complement the courses of the first semester and organized for the first time this year. Just as it was in the first semester, the second semester also runs as daytime and after working hours.

This year branches of the 25th Term Basic Insurance Training Programme include Fire and Engineering Insurance, Accident Insurance, Marine Insurance, Accountancy, Health Insurance and Life Insurance. Branch trainings of the Basic Insurance Training Programme will end in June.

TII will open Agriculture Insurance Trainings in May...

TII will open a specialized training on Agriculture Insurance in May. The lecturers of the 30-hour Agriculture Insurance Training Programme, organized in cooperation with the Agriculture Insurance Foundation, are the well-known figures in Turkey on agriculture insurance.

The subjects of the training programme that will be announced in April include Risk Management in Agriculture, Agriculture Insurance, Legal Regulations, State-Subsidized Agriculture Insurance, Vegetable Product Insurance, Livestock Insurance, Agriculture Insurance Marketing.

TII supports the Internet Week…

TII supports the celebrations organized by IT NGO Platform on April 7-20, for the 15th anniversary of internet entering Turkey by broadcasting the Internet Week Banner on its web site. The purpose of the Internet Week is to expand internet in Turkey, start new projects on internet, introduce internet to a wider public, bring internet to the attention of the society and accelerate Turkish internet. In this context, enabling each student to access internet, having access to internet from public libraries and carrying out the public transactions effectively from internet are set as the priority targets by IT NGO Platform.

TII celebrates the 15th anniversary of internet in Turkey and the Internet Week within the framework of making the best use of internet through its comprehensive web site, online library and e-bulletin.

The most important preference for consumers while buying insurance: “Reliability of the Company”

The most important preference for the consumers while buying insurance was determined as “Reliability”, upon the survey conducted by TII, in February-March 2008, titled “What Is the Most Important Preference for You When You Buy Insurance?” and attended by 796 people. “Reliability” is followed by the “Quality of Services” where the “Qualification and Timing of Claims Payment” is the third preference. “Promotions” is the last preference in the ranking.

The ranking of the preferences of the consumers while buying insurance is indicated in Graph 1.


 

When the distribution of the preferences is analysed “Reliability” and “Quality of Services” constitute the 18 % segment. “Promotions”, the last preference in the ranking, constitute only 2 % segment.

TII is preparing three different projects for the Active Labor Market Measures Grant Scheme...

TII is drafting three project proposals concerning the measures for increasing the employment within the framework of European Commission, Active Labor Market Measures Grant Scheme.

The first of the projects that will be implemented with the Foundation for the Support of Women’s Work aims to give vocational training to meet the demand of the sector for interim staff.

The second project of TII will be implemented with Marmara University, Banking and Finance Vocational High School. Vocational training aiming at employment on accountancy, insurance accountancy, private pension insurance marketing, within the framework of this project.

The third project aiming at offering vocational trainings on risk management and agricultural insurance will be implemented with Agriculture Insurance Foundation.

Within the priorities and conditions set by the Grant Scheme, the projects including measures to increase the employment in the 28 cities of Turkey will be able to make use of the grant 16.000.000 € in total.
