TII Seminar Series will bring together professionals from different sectors with the Turkish insurance sector

TII Seminar Series will be organized for the third time in 2010. The Seminar Series, which started in 2007, aiming at enriching the vision of participants of the Basic Insurance Training Programme, are also open to general participation due to demand by the sector. TII Seminar Series will bring leading professionals in various sectors, together with insurance professionals. Following the first seminar on EU-Turkey relations, which will be presented by the EU Expert Dr. M. Can Baydarol, on 9th of February; Mr. Osman Arýoðlu, former President of the Revenue Administration, will discuss Turkey’s monetary and fiscal regulations. Mr. Ercan Tutal, Holder of the Social Entrepreneurship Award, who is the founder of an association working for handicap-free world for handicapped citizens; Mr. Cihat Alagoz, the Head of the Sectorial Assemblies and Economic Research Department of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), will also be the speakers of the seminars.

Mr. Guven Guner, instructing in the field of personal and professional development to a wide variety of industries, will exceed ways of common thinking during the seminars. Besides, a respected columnist of economy press, Ms. Meliha Okur will be scrutinizing Turkish economy, and Mr. Ertan Firat, the General Manager of Aviva Insurance Company, will be evaluating the sector’s profile.

Second shots made at TII’s 2nd Bowling League

Insurance professionals meet at the TII’s 2nd Bowling League, which started in January. 17 teams from insurance companies and institutions along with their supporters created a cheerful atmosphere during the games.

At the end of the final game to be played on 18th of May, winning team will be awarded with free participation to TII’s Short Term Training Programmes for 18 hours. Besides, the top three winners among 85 competitors, high score and high strike champions at the individual category will be treated by various rewards.

Prof. Dr. Suna Ozyuksel made a presentation titled “EU and the European Single Insurance Market” at the Seminar given to the insurance agencies in Kayseri

Invited by Kayseri Chamber of Commerce (KTO) - European Union Information Center, Prof. Dr. Suna Ozyuksel, the Director of Turkish Insurance Institute, made a presentation on EU and EU Single Insurance Market.

Following Mr. Hasan Ali Kilici’s, the President of KTO, opening speech underlining the activities and relevant trainings offered by EU Information Center; Mr. Mumtaz Begen, KTO’s Member of Assembly from Insurance Sector, gave information on the regulation for insurance brokers. The seminar was concluded by Prof. Dr. Ozyuksel’s presentation and discussion session.

Insurance Awareness Seminar to the Students of Canakkale 18 Mart University

6th of the seminars aiming at increasing awareness in insurance, sponsored by Finans Emeklilik & Hayat Inc., was held at 18 Mart University, Canakkale. The students and the academicians attended the seminar where following subjects were discussed:

  • "A new system, a new opportunity: Private Pension System” presented by Ms. Ozlem Baydar, Director of Corporate Sells from Finans Emeklilik & Hayat Inc.
  • “Insurance and Us” presented by Mr. Cem Yalcin Bayer, President of the Education and Publicity Committee of the Association of the Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Turkey
  • “Institutions of the Turkish Insurance Sector and Turkish Insurance Institute”, presented by Ms. Nurhan Sutlas, Head of Public Relations and Marketing Unit from TII

Discussants also replied questions about employment opportunities and private pension system.

Basic Insurance E-learning Programme starts on 1st of March

Basic insurance e-learning programme, developed in cooperation with Element Education Technologies, starts on 1st of March. The programme offers a professional development opportunity regardless of time and place limitations for those who just entered the sector or who seek for enriching occupational knowledge.

The programme enables synchronous training as well as asynchronous access to contents as it is empowered with “Learning Management System”. Basic insurance e-learning programme also targets people who are not able to engage face – to – face training because of residential issues.

The content is composed of two modules: Basic Insurance Knowledge, Fire and Engineering Insurance, or Motor Insurance. The lectures are instructed by professional insurance experts who are actively working in the sector.

Participants can purchase the lectures proportionally for Basic Insurance Knowledge module and also claim free participation to short term trainings based on number of the lectures purchased.

TII “Accident Report” e-learning Programme in cooperation with TRAMER

TII, in cooperation with TRAMER (Turkish Motor TPL Insurance Information Center), is working on a new synchronous e-learning programme in order to minimize increasing number of incorrect data entry and claims reporting at the system. The training aims at equipping participants with the practical knowledge about the process from loss acceptance to reporting. “Accident report” e-learning programme is planned to be conducted in February.

Joint e-learning Project by TII and Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool (DASK)

TII becomes DASK’s solution partner in “Emergency Action Plan” project. In this scope, TII and DASK have signed a protocol in order to develop an e-learning programme for restructuring DASK trainings. The programme will be composed of 4 modules: Insurance Knowledge, Earthquake Knowledge, Construction Knowledge and Claims Knowledge. Through Learning Management System (LMS), participants will get an asynchronous access to the contents.

Life Insurance Oriented Legislation Harmonization Training Programme Held in January

Within its efforts in assisting insurance companies to adapt to the changes in legislations, TII has conducted a life insurance oriented legislation harmonization training programme: “Life Insurance Legislation in Accordance with New Regulations”.

The programme instructed by Mr. Serif Cakirsoy, Head of Department at the General Directorate of Insurance, Undersecretariat of Treasury, on 28th of January, received interest from senior level managers of life insurance companies.
