TII Training and HR Platform convened with a busy agenda

TII Training and HR Platforms, which have been organized since 2007, in order to determine training needs of the sector, to exchange views and opinions regarding TII’s services and to enable a professional network for companies, convened with participation of 24 Training and HR professionals from 21 insurance and life & pension companies.

During the platforms, Prof. Dr. Suna Özyüksel carried out an evaluation in insurance training around the world and underlined that the number of students of insurance institutes in developed countries was about 250.000 annually and the number reached almost 20.000 in less developed countries in comparison to Turkey. As these figures were upsetting for Turkey, Prof. Dr. Özyüksel pointed out the fact that the number of students in 2007, which had been 50 in total, has raised to 1.000 annually, because of continuous efforts such as face-to-face meetings with technical department managers to determine training needs, annual planning of training schedule and application of alternative dates for training programmes to maintain best convenience for participants. Although the current number of students is pleasing, it is still lagging behind the developing countries where the numbers are around 20.000.

At this point, training and HR professionals expressed their gratitude for TII’s services and stated that TII has been doing its part exceedingly. Moreover, they claimed that lack of standardization for occupational skills and competences made it difficult to determine training needs for companies, which could be seen as the primary reason for low participation to training programmes, as well as intense work pressure and limited budgets. Additionally, the participants indicated that TII was seen as the school for the sector and they aimed at escalating the level of cooperation with TII.
